Redditch Lib Dems urge Royal Mail to allow people to send free letters to care homes

Harry Leach 24th Nov, 2020

REDDITCH Liberal Democrats are calling on Royal Mail to allow people to send free cards and parcels to loved ones in care homes.

The group is backing the party’s national campaign which comes after Irish postal service, An Post, announced it will deliver letters and parcels for free until January 31.

Liberal Democrat candidate for Church Hill, Mark Tomes, said: “The Covid-19 outbreak has left many people who live in care homes cut off from contact with their loved ones.

“It’s more important than ever for them to have something from their families if they can’t see them in person.

“Introducing free postage for care homes into the New Year would be a big help for many people – and help keep family and friends in contact during what could be such a lonely time for so many.”
