REDDITCH Lions Club has a new president.

After a highly successful year Mike Andrews took over the role from Brian Rich at the Lions’ annual handover barbecue.

“It is a real privilege to be elected as president and I am really looking forward to the year ahead and our club working to serve Redditch and Studley communities,” said Mike.

“As usual, we will be collecting for Children in Need in November, and for our charitable funds at our Christmas collections in December.

“We are always looking for help from people who would like to volunteer at any of our events or become members.

“If you are interested in helping email: [email protected], call 0845 833 5914 or go to our Facebook page.”

On Saturday October 5, in Redditch Town Hall, the club has organised a free PSA Blood Screening day for men over 50.

PSA testing provides an indication of prostate health; a raised PSA level may indicate a prostate problem requiring further investigation.

Testing is free and booking is not required.

Last year, a similar event run by the Club showed eight per cent of men tested should consult their GP about their prostate health.

Redditch Lions are again planning their annual Halloween Fun Run/ Walk for Prostate Cancer charities.

It’s on Sunday, October 27 at Arrow Valley Park – runners or walkers of all abilities are invited to join in and sponsors are also welcome.
