Redditch Lions Jubilee planting to bring cherry blossom to park

Redditch Editorial 6th Jun, 2022   0

LIONS Clubs across the country have been planting trees as part of the The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative marking the Platinum Jubilee 2022 celebrations – and Redditch is no exception.

Redditch Lions have bought and last week planted two Prunus Kanzan flowering cherry trees in Arrow Valley Park last week.

The trees and commemorative plaque are by the main pathway between the visitors centre and the sailing club.

Members of Redditch Lions attended the ceremony alongside park manager Richard Davidson.

Lion Mike Andrews said: “We are grateful to Redditch Borough Council for agreeing to let us plant these trees as a mark of respect and admiration for Her Majesty the Queen, and we hope they will be enjoyed by many generations of Redditch residents for years to come.”
