Redditch Lions to celebrate 50th anniversary

REDDITCH Lions are aiming to celebrate their 50th anniversary in style – with a giant tea party for 50 Redditch senior citizens.

The event will be held in the ever popular Archer’s Restaurant in Heart of Worcestershire College in the town centre with the children of Matchborough First School on hand to to serenade the diners.

“We’re hoping to get the Mayor of Redditch and our local MP along if possible to join in the fun,” said Lions president Jeff Jennings.

“The idea was to make it a triple celebration – it’s our 50th anniversary, it’s highlighting the excellent work by the students in Archer’s Restaurant, and we’re also hoping to bring some joy to 50 of the town’s elderly, people who might not get out very much or who could do with a little cheer.”

The event is planned for Thursday, September 28 but already planning is well underway to make sure the tea party is a roaring success.

Redditch Lions play an active role in enriching the Redditch community.

They meet regularly on the second Wednesday of the month at the Southcrest Manor Hotel in Pool Bank, Redditch from 7.30pm or call 0345 833 5914 or email: [email protected] for more information or to join.
