Redditch man left with life threatening injuries after punch up

A MAN has been arrested following what police described as an ‘altercation’ which left a 57-year-old man requiring hospital treatment for life threatening injuries.

The incident happened at around 8pm last night, Tuesday, May 12, in Lock Close, Batchley.

Police arrived responding to news of the bust-up.

When they arrived they found the 57-year-old suffering from a head injury and he was taken to the hospital by ambulance.




The other man was arrested.

Inspector Lee Page from Redditch Police said: “An investigation is underway and I can confirm that a man in his 20s from Redditch has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.


“The victim has remained in hospital and at this time his injuries remain life threatening.

“I would like to reassure the local community that this is an isolated incident and that they can expect to see an increased police presence in and around Lock Close as we continue our enquiries and investigation of the scene.

“I would ask that anyone with any information please gets in touch with us by calling 101 and quoting incident number 0592s of 12 May 2020.”
