A MAN from Redditch has been sent to prison for raping a 14-year-old girl.
Jose Delgado-Leon, 24, of Hatton Close, Redditch, was jailed for nine years.
He was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court today (Friday 26 August).
The offences took place in 2017 and were reported to police a year later when the victim felt ready to share her experience.
Following investigations, Delgado-Leon was arrested and subsequently charged with two counts of rape.
He denied the charges but was found guilty on 1 June at Worcester Crown Court.
Detective Constable Julia Proctor said: “This has understandably been a very difficult time for the victim and we admire and appreciate her courage, patience and determination during this case.
“This sentence demonstrates the abhorrent nature of these offences and reinforces our commitment to do everything we can do to bring those responsible to justice.
