A MAN who failed to comply with a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in Redditch town centre has been handed a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) for three years.
Kamil Novak, 29, of Salters Lane, Redditch is now banned from entering or being in specific locations in the town until February 9, 2029.
Noval was handed the CBO at Worcester Magistrates Court on Monday (February 9) which prohibits him from the following:
• Entering Trafford Retail Park, Redditch or be within the boundaries/car parks of the retail park.
• Being on Unicorn Hill, Redditch.
• Entering Tesco, including the filling station, Coldfield Drive, Redditch.
• Entering B&Q, Jinnah Road, Redditch.
• Being in possession of an open vessel of alcohol in any public place, unless in an area where the consumption of alcohol is permitted.
• Refusing to leave a premises or area when asked by someone who has authority to do so.
• Urinating in a public place, save for public toilets.
• Causing a nuisance to members of the public, businesses or the community within Redditch.
Novak was further ordered to pay a total fine of £240, costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £48 after he was found guilty of two counts of failing to comply with a PSPO in Redditch town centre on 20 March and 9 July last year.
Sgt Katie Ward of Redditch town centre team said: “Working with our partners at Redditch Borough Council we introduced a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in the town centre in 2024 for three years.
“This is to help us prevent the actions of the small minority who cause antisocial behaviour (ASB) from ruining it for the majority.
“We said we would enforce the PSPO where appropriate and I believe this court result shows we are doing so.
“As a result of action taken, we are pleased to get this CBO for Novak which will help us to protect the public from his ASB that has no doubt upset those who live and work in Redditch.”
Redditch Borough Council’s portfolio holder for community services and safeguarding responsibilities, Coun Monica Stringfellow, said: “This is why the borough council authorised the town centre PSPO – to support our partners to have the tools they need to keep Redditch safe.”
Anyone who sees Novak breaching the terms of his CBO should contact police on 101 or report it online at https://orlo.uk/9rseg .
