AN ELDERLY man’s Christmas Wish came true after Bowood Court and Mews Care Home dressed him as Santa.
Maurice Crombie, 76, who lives at the care home, wanted to surprise his fellow residents, family and friends by making a special guest appearance as Father Christmas at the home’s Festive Fair.
Maurice’s dream came to be a reality after Adept Care Homes’ released a ‘Make A Wish’ program.
The program encourages residents to make a wish – no matter how big or small – and to put it on the home’s magic wishing tree.
Every month, one resident is picked to have their wish come true.
With the help of the maintenance team, Maurice could fashion his motorised wheelchair to look like Santa’s Sleigh, complete with his elf helper and Rudolf leading the way.
Mark, lead maintenance at Bowood Court and Mews and ‘elf helper’, said: “Maurice wanted to surprise everyone, so he asked me to keep it a secret and help him with decorating his wheelchair and finding a Santa suit.
“It was all worth it to see the look on everyone’s faces, and I think it certainly made his Christmas.”
Now Maurice aims to make a second appearance as Santa.
“I want to deliver the presents on Christmas morning too, to all the residents,” he added.
