Redditch Mayor Joe Baker's New Year message

Redditch Editorial 31st Dec, 2016   0

NEW Year is often seen as a time where we get a little bit stressed out shopping and preparing to have fun with for loved ones, as great and exciting as it may seem but for some New Year can also be a time of loneliness and heartache.

Someone maybe spending the day on their own because they no longer have family or have lost loved ones, other may be in desperate need of finance or shelter and may be spending the New Year on the street.

For me this time of year is about the message that Jesus gave to us, and the love he showed to his neighbour and that love is what he encouraged us all to show to each other regardless of race, gender religious background or sexuality.

New Year is a time to share the hope of the year ahead and what we have with others, to be a good friend and neighbor to hold out a helping hand to those in need.

encourage you all to share what you have with others and to shed hope and light into this sometimes dark and lonely world and with this message I would like to offer and pray that you have a safe, peaceful, happy and prosperous New Year with those you love and with those whom you can help.
