A STUDENT midwife from Redditch has been nominated for the 2018 Mama Academy Breastfeeding Champion of the Year award, writes Daniel Cooke.
Marie Rivett, 39 is currently in her final year of a midwifery degree at the University of Worcester and also works as a breast feeding support worker.
Marie has been working to get more support and information on breastfeeding to women so that they can then be better informed on whether to choose do so and has so far had five articles published as well her work being presented at the Unicef Baby Friendly Convention.
Marie said: “When I had children of my own I really began to think about how important it was that all children should have the best possible start in life
“I left my job and began working voluntarily with new mums, before securing a paid job as a breast feeding support worker.
“Immediately I knew I wanted to train to be a midwife,” she added.
