THE ALAMO and the fight for Texan Independence is to be covered by the Redditch Military History Society next Wednesday, March 21, writes Daniel Cooke.
The presentation aims to give an insight into the causes of the Texan Revolution, the events which took place and the characters that took part.
Modern history has chosen to remember and portray The Alamo in film, song and books and many may know the Texian battle cry ‘Remember the Alamo’ from such works.
The Alamo was just one of many battles in the Texas Revolution which gave us familiar names, myths and legends that appear over and over in history and modern life. It also shaped the course of following battles such as San Jacinto and contributed to the foundation of one of the most well-known states in the USA.
The meeting will take place at St Lukes Church Hall, Redditch at 7.30pm.
