A REDDITCH man has been given a 16 month driving ban after he flipped his car while over the limit.

Marian Boleslaw Bendych pleaded guilty at Redditch Magistrates Court on Tuesday (February 2) to driving with 60 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Mark Soper, prosecuting, told the court the 65-year-old had clipped the curb on the A441 at about 4.30pm on January 17 and his Volkswagen Golf overturned on the road.

He remained at the scene and a road side breath test was carried out before he was arrested.

Defence solicitor, Julia Powell, said: “He does not normally drink. he had been at his cousins house and had been persuaded to have a drink. They then went on to another friends house and he had another drink there.

“He described it as a foolish mistake.”

Chair of the bench, Judy Hulland, fined Bendych £120 and ordered him to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £135 in prosecution costs.
