REDDITCH motorists are warned to take extra care on the road this morning as rain continues to batter the town.
Police are urging drivers to prevent putting themselves and others at risk by driving through floodwater during the bad weather.
Motorists are advised to listen out for local news bulletins before setting off on their journey, keep up-to-date with road closures, flooding and forecasts and to bear in mind stopping distances increase on wet roads.
Drivers should take care to double the distance between their vehicle and the one in front and to never attempt to drive through fast-moving water, such as a flooded ford, as they could easily be swept away by the current along with their car.
In heavy rain, headlights should be switched on when visibility is seriously reduced and car owners should be sure to replace windscreen wipers if they are worn or damaged.
Motorists should take care to dry their brakes after driving through standing water, by using them gently.
