Redditch MP appointed Conservative Party Deputy Chairman

REDDITCH MP, Rachel Maclean, has been appointed to serve as Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party.

This comes after she was asked to step down as Housing Minister, after the cabinet reshuffle earlier in the month.

In her new role, Mrs Maclean is being given responsibility for campaigning and women and will work with the Chairman of the Party, Richard Holden MP, and a team of Deputy and Vice Chairman.

This is the second time Rachel has served the Conservative Party in a national role.

Between November 2022 and February 2023, Mrs Maclean served as Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party.

Her role included responsibility for candidates.

Mrs Maclean said: “Born into a left-wing family, I didn’t begin as a Conservative: it was only when I started my own business that I understood that the Conservatives are the Party of hard work and aspiration.

“I’m thrilled to be leading the drive to ensure all our policies deliver for women.

“It will also be a pleasure and a privilege to ramp up the support I’m already giving to fantastic women in our Party at every level, including candidates.”
