Redditch MP backs Bill to stop the boats

REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has voted for the controversial Safety of Rwanda Bill.

On Wednesday, the bill, which aims to stop legal challenges against plans to send asylum seekers to Rwanda, was approved by 320 votes to 276 votes.

Mrs Maclean has been an ardent supporter of the bill.

She said: “I made backing measures to tackle illegal migration and to stop the boats a top priority this year.

“We need an effective deterrent to stop the boats and to end the cruel trade of Channel crossings – and this bill will do just that.

“These new laws will make it unequivocally clear that, if you enter our country illegally, you will be detained and then removed to Rwanda.”
