REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has backed calls for West Midlands Trains (WMT) to be stripped of its franchise.
She joins the Mayor of West Midlands, Andy Street, and also Prime Minister Boris Johnson in condemning the company.
“For too long my constituents have been subjected to an unacceptable level of delays and cancellations and this situation cannot continue any longer,” said Mrs Maclean.
“Mr Street has said if a reliable service is not restored by midnight on January 31 then he will request the Department for Transport to remove the franchise from WMT.
“The Mayor has my full support in his approach.”
Mrs Maclean added that she is aware that not every issue is the fault of rail bosses but their time management skills must improve quickly.
“Although new management might be taking over the rail company, these problems will still remain and Julian Edwards, their managing director, must get a grip on the situation on his first day in his new job.”
