REDDITCH MP Chris Bloore has reaffirmed his commitment to tackling child sexual abuse by attending a crucial Parliamentary Pledging Event on Ending Child Sexual Abuse in the UK.
The event, hosted by Sarah Champion MP, brought together survivors, whistleblowers, legal experts, and campaigners to call for urgent government action.
Held in the House of Commons, it focused on implementing the 20 key recommendations of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA).
These include establishing a Child Protection Authority, introducing mandatory reporting laws and improving specialist support services for victims and survivors.
Attendees included leading experts and survivor and advocate Chris Tuck and Rotherham whistleblower Jayne Senior MBE.
Speaking after the event, Mr Bloore said: “The scale of child sexual abuse in this country is deeply troubling.
“We must take urgent and meaningful action to protect children, prevent abuse, and support survivors.
“The recommendations from the IICSA report provide a clear roadmap and I am committed to ensuring the Government implements them in full.
“This is not a partisan issue – it is a national crisis. I will push for stronger safeguarding measures, improved victim support, and justice for those who have suffered.
“We cannot allow delays or complacency when it comes to child protection.”
Following the event, Mr Bloore joined nearly 100 MPs in signing a letter to the Prime Minister, urging the Government to treat child sexual abuse as a national priority, implement IICSA recommendations with ring-fenced funding and ensure victims and survivors are at the heart of the process.
The event also reinforced the need for greater accountability, transparency, and victim-centred approaches to tackling child sexual abuse.
Mr Bloore added: “I am grateful to Sarah Champion MP for organising this important event and to the brave survivors and campaigners who continue to fight for change.
“The Government must act now to ensure that no child is left unprotected and that perpetrators face justice.”
Mr Bloore encourages constituents affected by these issues to seek support and remains committed to advocating for stronger protections and improved services.
