REDDITCH MP Chris Bloore has praised the Autumn Sunshine Club after visiting their monthly coffee morning at Redditch Library.
The club, founded in 2024 by local volunteer Julie Cacciottolo, brings together residents aged 60 and over to tackle loneliness through social activities, outings and informational sessions.
Mr Bloore joined members for their latest gathering on the fourth floor of the library.
The visit followed support from his office, which provided advice on charity governance, fundraising and sustainable operating models.
With this support in place, the club is now working to transition into a formal Community Interest Company (CIC). This would allow them to bid for funding and expand their outreach across the town.
During the visit, the MP spent time chatting with attendees, sharing stories and listening to the challenges faced by seniors in the constituency.
He said: “Loneliness and isolation among older residents is a serious challenge. Groups like the Autumn Sunshine Club provide friendship, support and connection. Speaking to members showed how much this club means to them.
“Julie and her volunteer team deserve credit for the work they do. My office was pleased to assist with advice on funding and governance.
“I support their plans to become a Community Interest Company, which will help secure their future and allow them to support more people.”
The Autumn Sunshine Club holds its community coffee mornings on the last Tuesday of every month from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Redditch Library. Over-60s looking for companionship and activities are encouraged to attend.
