Redditch MP Chris Bloore visits Sholfins Swim School

REDDITCH MP Chris Bloore visited Sholfins Swim School at Woodrow First School to meet staff and see first-hand the work being done to provide vital swimming lessons for local children.

During the visit, Mr Bloore heard about the challenges facing school swimming in Redditch, including a shortage of facilities and restrictions which particularly affect provision for children with special educational needs (SEN).

Sholfins Swim School CIC, which delivers swimming sessions for schools and community groups, has long campaigned for improved access to suitable facilities to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn this life-saving skill.

Sholfins Swim School has been delivering lessons in Redditch for years, supporting children across schools and in the wider community.

Their provision includes specialist sessions for children with additional needs and opportunities that would not otherwise be available locally.

Speaking after the visit, Chris Bloore MP said: “Swimming is not just a sport – it is a life-saving skill that every child deserves the chance to learn.

“The work Sholfins does here in Redditch is inspiring but it’s clear they are being held back by a lack of facilities and investment.”
