REDDITCH MP Chris Bloore has welcomed the new Prime Minister’s announcement of a further 20 per cent cut in business rates for thousands of pubs, clubs and music venues.
The government says its new tax cut will benefit nearly 32,000 trading businesses in England from April 2027, although it has not published a figure for pubs alone.
Cafes and restaurants won’t benefit, and nor will hospitality businesses in Scotland.
Mr Bloore said: “These places are so much more than businesses.
“They’re where friendships are made, families celebrate, local talent gets its chance, and communities come together.
“They give our towns and villages their character, and it would be heartbreaking to see them replaced by boarded-up windows and ‘For Sale’ signs.
“This is a positive step that recognises just how important our local venues are. By backing them now, we’re helping to protect the heart and soul of our communities for years to come.”
