REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has congratulated Boris Johnson after he was elected the new Conservative leader.
Rival and Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt was beaten comfortably after Mr Johnson received 92,153 votes to his rival’s 46,656.
The former London mayor takes over from Theresa May tomorrow and thanked his predecessor for all her hard work.
Mr Johnson promised he would deliver Brexit and unite the country during his victory speech.
Redditch MP Rachel Maclean, who has thrown her full support behind Mr Johnson said: “This contest has been a fantastic opportunity for our members to have their say.
“I’m glad the hardworking members, volunteers, serving councillors and activists in the Redditch Conservative Association have taken part in hustings and debates.
“This is democracy at its best.”
