REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has met with bosses from Marks and Spencer to discuss investing in the town once again.
It follows an announcement M&S made earlier this year where the British retailer confirmed they are investing in new stores across the country.
Keen to meet with company bosses to make the case for returning to Redditch, Mrs Maclean and Coun Matt Dormer, Leader of Redditch Borough Council, held the meeting last Friday with M&S’ Head of Location Planning and the retailer’s Head of Public Affairs.
M&S closed their store in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre in April 2018, much to the disappointment of residents.
Mrs Maclean said: “Being proactive and encouraging investment in Redditch is how we’re going to unlock this town’s full potential. Just sitting there and waiting for it to happen doesn’t always work.
“The meeting with M&S was extremely encouraging and positive, and I hope we can welcome back M&S to our town.”
Coun Matt Dormer, leader of Redditch Borough Council, added: “We’re working hard to make Redditch a great place to live and raise a family, and a key part of that is attracting more investment into our town.
“I look forward to continuing conversations with M&S about returning to Redditch.”
