REDDITCH MP Karen Lumley met with the new chief executive of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (WAHT) in Redditch last Friday (April 7. 2017).

Michelle McKay joined WAHT last month, committing her long term future to Worcestershire having made a move from South Australia.

The hour-long meeting with other county MPs took place at the Alexandra Hospital, and Mrs Lumley said: “We had been awaiting the arrival of Michelle for some time since her appointment, and I was delighted that our first meeting took place at the Alex.

“Although she is under no illusion as the task she is undertaking, we as MPs were able to ask her further about her background and to put over our first views as to the priorities for the Trust going forward, as well as discuss concerns for recruitment and waiting lists after the winter.”

Over the last 15 years, Mrs McKay has held a range of executive positions within the health system in Australia. She has managed acute health services, including a district of 17 geographically dispersed hospitals across Southern Queensland and a large tertiary hospital in Adelaide, South Australia.
