REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has launched a competition to find Redditch’s best South Asian restaurant to enter into a prestigious Parliamentary awards.
Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Tiffin Cup competition seeks to promote the importance of South Asian restaurants throughout the UK.
Redditch has a winning track record in this competition with Redolence Spice on Unicorn Hill, winning the Tiffin Cup in 2018 after being nominated by Mrs Maclean.
Redolence Spice was the first restaurant from the West Midlands to win the prestigious title.
And now Mrs Maclean is hoping a Redditch restaurant or takeaway will once again put the town on the culinary map as the Tiffin Cup returns.
She said: “Redolence Spice has already put Redditch on the culinary map by winning the Tiffin Cup in 2018 and I hope our town will be successful once again.
“Redditch has so many fantastic South Asian restaurants who are all worthy winners.
“Please send in your nominations and let’s find the next Tiffin Cup winner”
Residents should give the name of the restaurant or takeaway and briefly set out why Mrs Maclean should enter the restaurant or takeaway in the competition.
All nominations should be received no later than 5pm on Wednesday, December 21.
Once all nominations have been received, the Redditch MP will then select one restaurant or takeaway to enter into this year’s Tiffin Cup.
Following the nomination there is a Regional Final from which a short-list of 12 is chosen.
At the Grand Final, held in Westminster, each restaurant will be asked to prepare a signature dish which will be marked by a panel of expert judges and is chaired by the celebratory chef Ainsley Harriott MBE.
The Tiffin Cup winner is then crowned.
