Redditch MP meets with PCC to solve speeding in Astwood Bank

MP FOR Redditch Rachel Maclean is to meet with the Police and Crime Commissioner to discuss speeding in Astwood Bank.

It follows a public meeting held in the village last year where residents raised concerns about speeding along Evesham Road.

Following the meeting, Mrs Maclean and Coun Mike Rouse, Coun Craig Warhurst and Coun Brandon Clayton ensured residents they would continue working to reduce speeding.

The councillors will be joining Mrs Maclean and Police and Crime Commissioner, John Campion, next month to make the case for average speed cameras to be installed in Astwood Bank.

Mrs Maclean said: “I promised residents at the public meeting that there wouldn’t just be more talk about this issue, but there would be clear action in tackling speeding in Astwood Bank – and that’s exactly what’s happening.

“Whilst change won’t happen overnight, which I’ve always been upfront about, your Councillors and I are doing everything we can to make progress in addressing residents’ concerns.

“And yes progress can often feel slow, but it is always possible as demonstrated by my work in Hanbury in getting the speed limits successfully reduced. This is something villagers had been calling for long before I was first elected.”
