Redditch MP offers praise for Friends of Isaac's Food Bank

REDDITCH MP Chris Bloore has praised the ‘exceptional work’ of Friends of Isaac’s Food Bank CIC following a visit to the organisation’s main warehouse at Beoley Road West.

During his visit, Chris met with the foodbank’s founder Isaac Winfield and the dedicated team of volunteers who work to support vulnerable residents in the community.

He started Friends of Isaac’s Food Bank in November 2020 as a pop-up greenhouse on his driveway to help people struggling over Christmas.

Since then, the charity has grown and now has sheds across five locations dedicated to helping combat food insecurity in the borough.

Mr Bloore said: “Isaac is an inspiration. To see the impact he has made, starting from such a young age, is truly incredible.

“The work of Friends of Isaac’s Food Bank is a testament to the power of community action and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Isaac and all the volunteers who give up their time to help others.”

During the visit, Chris toured the foodbank, spoke with volunteers about the challenges of food insecurity, and discussed the importance of ensuring no one in Redditch goes without vital supplies.

Claire-Louise Chapman, Isaac’s mum, said: “Over a game of tabletop football, they chatted about their mutual love of Aston Villa, Isaac’s food banks and his ambitions for the future.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to Chris for the time he has taken today to learn more about what we do in the community, our challenges and our successes.”

The MP reaffirmed his commitment to tackling food poverty and supporting local schemes, such as the Friends of Isaac’s Food Bank.

He said: “While it is deeply concerning that so many people in Redditch rely on foodbanks, the compassion and dedication shown by Isaac and his team of volunteers is truly heartwarming.

“I am committed to working alongside organisations like this to address the root causes of food poverty and ensure that no family has to struggle to put food on the table.”

Friends of Isaac’s Food Bank CIC continues to provide much-needed assistance to families and individuals facing hardship.
