REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean held a successful Jobs Fair in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre today.
The event, which took place in Milward Square and ran from 10pm to 3pm, was a big hit with local people looking for career advice.
More than 20 businesses and training organisations, including West Mercia Police, were on hand to give people tips on getting a job.
Mrs Maclean said: “The Kingfisher was the perfect place to hold the Jobs Fair because people walking past could see what was going on.
“We know unemployment is low in Redditch but even so people are always on the lookout for fantastic opportunities.
“Whether it be to progress further in the business you’re in, or to look for a complete career change – no matter what your age – it had something for everyone.”
Those passing by were also able to find out more about apprenticeships in the area.
Kerry Davis, a representative for Worcestershire Apprenticeships, said: “The Job Fair allowed me to speak to people about the fourty-plus apprenticeships available within a five-mile radius of Redditch.
“Our aim is to engage with schools, job centres and other community groups across the county to find people who are interested in doing apprenticeships.”
HR Employment Bureau director Jennie Lewis said: “We are based on Unicorn Hill and we support local businesses in Redditch looking to recruit on a temporary or full-time basis.
“We also have an employment cafe where candidates seeking work can come and have a coffee, use the free wi-fi and apply for positions in the area.”
