REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has been appointed as a Home Office minister, working with the Home Secretary Priti Patel in the Government’s cabinet re-shuffle.
She has previously worked as a minister in the Department of Transport where she had overseen policies such as the move to greener, cleaner transport and Britain’s space programme.
Now appointed a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Home Office, she said: “After a wonderful 18 months at the Department for Transport, it was an honour to be asked by the Prime Minister to move to the Home Office.
“I am hugely looking forward to working with Home Secretary Priti Patel and the entire Home Office team.
“I will have more to say on my specific responsibilities soon.
“The Home Office plays a vital and pivotal role in tackling the issues my constituents care most about, from tacking violence against women and girls, tackling illegal migration, cutting crime and making our communities safer.
“As my constituents have seen, my work in Government so far has not stopped me from focussing on Redditch’s priorities, and I will continue in that spirit in this new role as nothing is going to stop me from fighting to return services to the Alexandra Hospital.”
