REDDITCH MP Chris Bloore has reiterated his support for fair and sustainable hospice funding, following engagement with national charity Hospice UK and growing concern about pressures facing the sector.
Hospice UK has warned that many hospices across England are facing increasing financial pressures, with rising demand and costs forcing some providers to make difficult decisions about services.
The organisation is calling for reforms to the current funding model and increased long-term support to protect care.
Mr Bloore said: “Hospices do extraordinary work for patients and families at some of the hardest moments in their lives. They provide dignity, comfort and expert care and they deserve a funding system that is sustainable and fit for the future.
“We are fortunate in our area to have excellent local services, including Primrose Hospice and Acorns Children’s Hospice, which provide outstanding support to families across Redditch.”
He said it was not just a national issue.
“We must make sure that valued local services like Primrose Hospice and Acorns Children’s Hospice are properly supported so they can continue their incredible work for years to come.”
