REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has backed the Government’s Budget, saying it ‘delivered for Redditch and the villages.’

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt set out his plans for the year ahead, which included extending free childcare to 30 hours-a-week, increasing the annual pension allowance to £60,000 and extending the £2,500 energy price guarantee for three months.

Mrs Maclean said: “The UK economy is proving the doubters wrong. The difficult decisions we have taken to restore stability mean we have avoided recession and growth is forecast to return.

“This means we’re able to focus on growing our economy and continuing to help my constituents with the cost of living.”

She added, as a mum-of-four herself, she was aware of pressures facing parents, adding she was pleased with the childcare reforms which ‘would deliver for 2,423 families in her constituency with children aged between nine months and four years.
