“She has shown nothing but resilience and dignity” – that was the verdict of Redditch MP Rachel Maclean following the resignation of Prime Minister Theresa May earlier today.
Mrs Maclean said: “Theresa May has a number of achievements to be proud of.
“I’ve been fortunate to have seen first-hand her support for women in public life.
“As a member of her government in my role as a PPS in the Home Office and the Government Equalities Office, I have worked on her flagship policies of ending domestic abuse and tackling the gender pay gap.
“These are starting to make a tangible difference and the impetus must continue.
“I want to thank her for the support she has shown to me as a woman in the Conservative Party and acknowledge the role that she personally has played through her ground-breaking work setting up Women to win, which enabled me to become an MP and serve my country.”
Mrs Maclean finished by saying now is a ‘good opportunity’ to look to the future, deliver Brexit and honour the referendum result.
