ELDERLY people in Redditch have until this Sunday, December 18, to check if they are entitled to Pension Credit to ensure they do not miss out on support they are entitled to.
There are already 1,750 claimants of Pension Credit in Redditch, but around a quarter of people who could claim the extra help do not currently do so.
Those on Pension Credit can qualify for a £324 lump sum as part of the Government’s cost-of-living payments.
Pension Credit is a top up for the most vulnerable pensioners that is worth an average of £3,500.
As well as a cash top up to the State Pension, this can help pensioners access other support such as help with housing costs, council tax reduction schemes, heating bills and a free over-75s TV licence.
Redditch MP Rachel Maclean said anyone in need of help or anyone who had a loved one who needed help could call her office on 01527 591334 or email [email protected] – she is also holding a cost-of-living drop-in event at St Andrew’s Church in Church Hill, from 4pm to 5pm on Friday, December 16.
Pensioners can visit gov.uk/pension-credit/how-to-claim or call 0800 99 1234 to make a claim.
