REDDITCH MP Chris Bloore visited Abbeywood First School to meet with pupils, staff and school leaders, discussing everything from democracy and leadership to the challenges facing schools and the local community.
During the visit, Mr Bloore met with the school’s councillors, who had prepared a range of thoughtful and light-hearted questions for their visitor – covering both his role as an MP and his personal interests.
The pupils asked Mr Bloore about his cat, Hamilton, his favourite football team, Aston Villa, his love of spicy food and even his memories of Redditch’s past – sharing laughs about the days when palm trees once decorated the Kingfisher Shopping Centre.
They also discussed more serious topics, including leadership, civic responsibility and how democracy works in practice.
Speaking after the visit, the MP said: “It was fantastic to visit Abbeywood First School and meet such bright, curious young people.
“What really stood out was their enthusiasm for learning about democracy and their community.
“These are the future leaders and active citizens of Redditch and it’s vital that we nurture that passion from an early age.
“I also had really valuable discussions with teachers Zoe Gilmour and Sarah Mills about the challenges facing local schools.
“Their dedication to supporting pupils and families is inspiring and I’ll continue to work in Parliament to ensure schools like Abbeywood have the support they need to give every child the best possible start in life.”
