THE TOWN’S MP paid a visit to Ladbrokes in the Kingfisher Shopping yesterday (Thursday) o place her annual bet on the biggest race of them all – The Grand National.
Mrs Lumley opped into the Redditch branch in order to place her £25 each way bet on Holywell at 14 to 1, but also to learn a bit more about the business, what they do in the community and the employment they provide.
The Grand National is the world’s most famous steeplechase and will be watched by an estimated 600 million people across some 140 countries.
It is the single event that many people choose to have a flutter on, with as many as half the UK adult population estimated to try their luck.
Mrs Lumley said: “It was interesting to find out a bit more about Ladbrokes as a business and the part they play in the local community.
“I always have a flutter on the Grand National in any case, and if I my horse comes home I will be giving the winnings to Special Olympics Redditch, a charity of which I am extremely proud to be Patron.
“So here’s hoping for Holywell.”
