A BUMPER funding boost of £8.2million is going to Worcestershire to help ensure children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and alternative provision (AP) receive an education that meets their needs.
The Government is investing an annual £850m in councils to create new places for young people with SEND and AP in mainstream and special schools.
This will provide specialist support for children with autism, learning difficulties, mobility difficulties, and more to meet their extra needs.
Redditch MP Rachel Maclean has welcomed the funding.
She said: “I want every child in Redditch and the villages to have the same opportunity to meet their potential, so it is vital that children with SEND and AP get the support and resources they need.
“I’ve met many families and children in my surgeries and on my visits and I know how important this provision is to them.
“I’m therefore pleased to see the Conservative Government is investing £8,284,205 in Worcestershire, which will deliver the education that meets the needs of children with SEND.”
