A REDDITCH mum who launched ‘her own little dream’ 18 months ago has been shortlisted for the Enterprising Worcestershire Awards.
Tracy Hayward got a start-up grant from Redditch Borough Council, took out a bank loan and went into business in her mobile horse box turned watering hole dubbed ‘The Mane Bar’.
Her first big event was last year’s town centre Tour Series cycle race and since then the business has gone from strength to strength.
Now she’s in line for a top county-wide award and local residents can show their support for the Batchley mother of two by voting for her in a public poll.
“I’m really surprised I made the shortlist,” said Tracy.
“They kept emailing me and I thought there is no way I’ll win but then the kids went on holiday and it was quiet and so I entered.
“They to see my name on the shortlist, I tell you I’m one very proud single parent.”
The Mane Bar was grew out of a scorching hot sports day and one parent saying to Tracy they could do with a nice glass of Prosecco to cool down.
Now from offering Prosecco – and 22 gins and counting – Tracy has started tailoring her offering to whatever event she’s attending.
“I’m doing a lot of weddings and different events these days and I always do a bit of research and source what people like, whether it’s wines, spirits or ales – it’s a bespoke drinks menu.”
It’s a community venture too, with friends and neighbours stepping in to help out whenever required.
The winners of Enterprising Worcestershire will be announced at a glittering event at the Stone Manor Hotel on September 18.
One of the awards is ‘the people’s choice’ and Tracy is urging local folk to cast their votes by visiting www.eiseverywhere.com/esurvey/index.php?surveyid=76009
