A REDDITCH mum is distraught after cruel thieves stole a special memorial gift for what would have been the first birthday of her stillborn baby.
Karina Homer had gone to Redditch cemetery to visit the grave of her daughter Robyn and discovered the present, bought by Karina’s sister Kristina, had gone.
“I’m only just holding it together,” said Karina, from Winyates, who lost another daughter, born premature, 16 years ago.
“We’ve had little things stolen in the past but this, this is just too much – we’d wanted something that was special and stood out, and now someone’s stolen it.”
The memorial is of an angel with it’s right hand behind its head. It was the centrepiece of a special array marking Robyn’s grave.
“My sister, Kristina, she has four boys, and when I was carrying Robyn she was always joking ‘I’m going to steal that little girl of yours, I want a girl’,” said Karina who herself has four girls and a boy.
“I was in and out of hospital like a yoyo with her and then when she was due she died – on my birthday.”
