REDDITCH Neighbourhood Watch is on a recruitment drive.
Its aims are to improve community safety, fire awareness and security generally and would suit anyone interested in keeping an eye out for any unwelcome activity in their area.
“Scheme members and Police work together to support prevention of crime by increasing vigilance and creating and maintaining a caring community,” said local spokesman Derek Dixon.
“Opportunities for crime are reduced by increasing crime prevention actions and linking with the local Police – if they see suspicious activities, they can report it.
“Elderly and vulnerable members of the community are advised of any incidents that might affect them, including scams that are in their areas.
“An extra benefit of the scheme is that some insurance companies offer a reduction for home insurance for some NHW areas.”
Redditch NHW was born in 1993 and features nine area co-ordinators spread across the town.
“It would be great to have more Neighbourhood Watch Schemes (or groups) in Redditch,” said Derek.
