Lib Dems select their Redditch prospective parliamentary candidate

THE LIBERAL Democrats have selected their Redditch Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the upcoming general election.

Andrew Fieldsend-Roxborough lives in the town with his wife and works as an engineer for the National Grid.

He said it was an ‘honour’ to be given this opportunity to put forward a positive liberal vision for Redditch.

“I am frustrated with the politics of division that we have seen over the last few years and that needs to stop.

“I promise to bring a more inclusive politics to Redditch and I hope the people of Redditch and the Villages will feel I am the best person to represent them in Westminster.

“I am looking forward to serving the community that has welcomed me and made me feel so at home for the last nine years.”

Mr Fieldsend-Roxborough said his main priorities included the environment, addressing the cost-of-living crisis and the state of the NHS.

He added climate change was the biggest threat and everyone should be doing as much as possible to achieve net zero by 2045.

“Whilst the Conservatives have shelved their commitments to address climate change and Labour have walked away from their commitment to fund green investments, the Liberal Democrats are unashamedly standing by our Fair Deal for the

“Environment that will put the environment and green economy at the heart of what we do.”

Mr Fieldsend-Roxborough said that the cost-of-living crisis had a huge impact on Redditch and the Lib Dems had a clear strategy for easing the pressure.

“The Conservatives have crashed the economy and have resorted to offering gimmicky tax cuts to try to cling on to power.

“Labour on the other hand is flipflopping on policy left, right and centre – it’s impossible to know what they stand for or what they will do to address the issues people face.

“The Liberal Democrats have a clear strategy for growing the easing the pressures on families and growing the economy including a promise to go after tax avoiders that have deprived the country of billions of pounds over the last decade – money that could well have been spent on things like health, education and social care.”
