A PERSISTENT thief and shoplifter who carried out his crimes in Redditch has been jailed for a year – one month for every offence he was charged with.
Todd MacDonald, 26, of no fixed abode, was arrested around 7.30pm on Saturday.
Yesterday he was charged with 11 thefts from stores in the town and one theft from a motor vehicle and appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court today.
The latter crime saw him enter a Mercedes Benz on July 15.
Once inside he stole a Bosch drill, a Makita Drill and a PAT tester – each worth £600, along with a Fluke meter (worth £200) and hand tools costing £1,200.
As well as the jail term, MacDonald was also ordered to pay £2,519 compensation to the owner of the Mercedes.
Insp Richard Field, from Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team, welcomed the sentence, describing MacDonald as a ‘prolific offender’.
