REDDITCH Self Defence is celebrating one of its cohorts reaching the finals of the Inspiring Young People Awards .
Libby Smith from Redditch started training with director Pete Martin two years ago and has now become an instructor in her own right.
Active Hereford and Worcestershire helped to supply support and training as it has done for many young people in the area.
She will be up against tough competition with young people from big organisations in the finals including Birmingham City FC
Pete said: “Libby came to us at a low time in her life after losing a friend to knife crime and a relative to gun crime.
“She was a top level sports person when she was younger and we have just refocused her direction in a positive way and I’m sure she will go on to great things.”
Libby will be taking 121 sessions and classes at the association’s new venue in April in Britten Street, Redditch
