Redditch nursery Bright Kids hits the Millie's Mark

A LEADING local nursery group is celebrating after achieving Millie’s Mark – a national accolade recognising commitment to paediatric first aid.

Bright Kids Nursery Group undertook training at all three of its settings in Redditch, Studley, and Northfield in Birmingham, meaning that 100 per cent of it’s staff are now paediatric first aid trained.

Millie’s Mark is named after Millie Thompson, who tragically died after choking on food at nursery in 2012, when she was just nine months old, which inspired Millie’s parents, Dan and Joanne, to establish Millie’s Trust.

The special accolade, Millie’s Mark, aims to recognise childcare providers that go above and beyond these minimum requirements and have 100 per cent of staff trained in pediatric first aid.

Bright Kids Group owner, Tricia Wellings, said: “I’m very proud that all three of our settings now carry the Millie’s Mark accreditation.

“First aid is always at the forefront of our minds when caring for small children and we take our responsibilities extremely seriously.

“We wholeheartedly support Millie’s Mark and hope that one day soon, all nurseries will carry the accreditation.”
