OFFICERS from Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team have returned property stolen from town retailers following a shoplifting gang being caught and pleading guilty.

Four people were arrested and subsequently pled guilty last week to charges of theft from a shop.

Hundreds of items worth thousands of pounds have been taken over several weeks and, working in conjunction with retail partners and the Kingfisher Shopping Centre, Redditch SNT were able to identify those responsible.

Alexandru Patru, and Matrix Sulejmanovic, both 19,of Signet Square, pled guilty to two counts of theft from a shop.

And Ionel Vilceanu, 44, of Signet Square, Coventry, pled guilty to four counts of theft from a shop.

They were all bailed with conditions, including not to enter Worcestershire, to an address on Bell Green Road, Coventry for pre-sentence reports and are due to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court on May 13.

PS David Roberts of Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) said: “This is a great example of partnership work between the police, retailers and the Kingfisher Centre staff which led to the apprehension of this shoplifting gang.

“We will continue to work together to reduce the impact of shop theft on stores for both staff and customers.”
