Redditch opticians gives Guide Dogs a boost thanks to patient

THE charity Guide Dogs is £1,900 better off after fundraising by staff at Bainbridge Bespoke Opticians in Redditch.

The idea came about back in January after optometrist Steve Bainbridge spoke to patient Morna Farquhar who volunteers for the charity raising Guide Dog puppies.

After Morna explained both the process of training a puppy, as well as how they can support owners with visual impairments, the opticians, which has outlets in Bromsgrove and Harborne as well as in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre, decided to give its support with a special offer donating money for every private appointment booked.

Over the course of January and February, a grand total of £1,900 was raised by the clients of Bainbridge Bespoke Opticians for the charity. This will be split between the Harborne and Bromsgrove and Redditch branches of Guide Dogs.

“We’re incredibly proud to be able to both raise awareness of eye health whilst raising money for Guide Dogs for the Blind,” said Steve.

“Having your eyes comprehensively checked for both changes in vision and any potential health issues is incredibly important.

“We thought it would be particularly fitting for us to partner with Guide Dogs for the Blind as the charity does some fantastic work for those with visual impairments and it’s a very worthwhile cause.

“Thank you to all the clients that visited us during the event.”
