Redditch pensioner delighted after getting disabled parking bay back

Redditch Editorial 24th Jan, 2019   0

A CRABBS Cross pensioner is delighted after finally getting his disabled parking bay back months after contractors resurfaced the area.

John Bailey was allocated a disabled parking bay in a car park outside his bungalow.

However when the car park was resurfaced in 2017, his parking bay disappeared under a layer of asphalt.

He tried to bring it to the attention of the council, but didn’t get anywhere.

As a result he often had to park further away from his house – until Borough Councillor Salman Akbar (Con, Crabbs Cross) got wind of his plight.

“It wasn’t until he got involved that something was done,” said John.

“After waiting for a response from the Council and being in several arguments with people parking where I normally park, something was done at last.”

Coun Akbar said: “I am glad I was able to make a difference and Mr Bailey has now got his parking space back.

“I would like to thank all of the officers for their help and support in resolving this issue and if any other residents in the Crabbs Cross Ward have any concerns, please get in touch.”
