Redditch Police at town's railway station to target Birmingham shoplifters

REDDITCH Police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) were out in force at the town’s railway station yesterday (Wednesday) as part of Neighbourhood Policing Week.

Redditch SNT partnered with officers from West Midlands Police and British Transport Police (BTP) on the lookout for potential shoplifters or known criminals arriving from the Birmingham area.

The operation monitored passengers coming in and out of the station to protect the public from criminals. These operations are held regularly.

Redditch SNT said it had been using Neighbourhood Policing Week to highlight the work officers do every day of the year 24/7 to tackle criminal activities such as anti-social behaviour, burglaries, shoplifting, violence, domestic abuse, hate crimes and drugs that impact neighbourhoods.

PC Mike Moore, of Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This was one of our regular joint operations targeted at shoplifters and known offenders whose actions have a major impact on livelihoods in the communities we serve in North Worcestershire.

“Thankfully, we hope partly due to these regular patrols, there were no incidents to report on this occasion, but we will continue to police the railway station to keep the public safe.”
