A REDDITCH officer is among three of West Mercia Police’s rugby players to have been selected to represent the South of England Police Team.

PC Mark Burrell will represent the side as they take on the North of England team on Tuesday, July 11 at 6pm at Stourbridge Rugby Club.

Fellow West Mercia officers PC Ieuan Mustow from Malvern Patrol and Detective Constable Adam Williams of Cyber Crime North will also be in the squad.

West Mercia Police finished in second place overall in the National Police Sports UK Rugby Championship Shield.

Players in the North against South game will be vying for selection to England and GB Police teams.

Temporary Chief Insp Dave King said: “I am very proud of the achievements of the West Mercia team during the past season and getting three players selected for the South of England team is due reward for their efforts.

“It provides all three players with the chance to be selected for the national police team, which would be a fantastic accolade if any of them are successful.”
