A COMMUNITY pub in Redditch is launching a new eating challenge competition for people to take on.
Vicki Gaffey and Martin Harman, who have managed the Duck Inn in Oakenshaw since March 2020, decided to re-launch the eating challenge after the pub gained national press from 2013 on this type of competition.
Martin said: “We decided to resurrect this eating challenge as it’s a bit of light-hearted competitive fun for our local community after the difficult times over the last two years.”
Individual competitors are tasked with eating a mammoth mixed grill which consists of an 8oz steak, 8oz gammon, butterfly chicken breast, two Cumberland sausages, two fried eggs, a classic burger, chips, onion rings, garden peas and grilled tomato – all within an hour.
Should they finish the mixed grill within the allocated time, they will be awarded with a free drink and a 50 per cent discount voucher which can be redeemed on a future visit for main meals for up to four people.
The winners’ photo will also be added to the ever-increasing wall of fame and shared on social media platforms.
The cost to enter the challenge is £28.96 and competitors are asked to book to enter this challenge by phoning 01527 759532 or emailing [email protected].
