REGULARS and visitors to The Cricketers Arms are getting on their bike to raise vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK.
Each year the Beoley Road West watering hole raises money for a worthy charity and this year the aim is to pedal from John O’Groats to Lands End during September on a static bike in the bar.
All told they’re covering an 873-mile route and hope to raise at least £1 for each mile covered.
In addition to that they’ve got a series of fund-raising nights organised to further boost the total, including a Reggae night on September 11 with food from Island Flavaz, Northern Soul on September 18,and a barbecue, raffle and free jukebox on September 26.
Regular Roy Faulkner, himself in remission from oesophageal cancer and who was given six months to live back in 2012, said: “The aim is that everyone who comes into the pub will have a go and pedal at least a mile.
“It’s such a worthy cause and affects so many men and we’re hoping for as much support as possible.”
Numerous businesses have already stepped forward to donate prizes and liquid refreshment will always be on tap.
