YOUNGSTERS from a Redditch school caught basketball fever this week after slam dunking courtside seats at an NBA game.
The Year 7 pupils from St Bede’s were invited to attend the match, Denver Nuggets v Indiana Pacers, at the O2 in London on Thursday (January 9).
It all came courtesy of England Basketball following the success of last year’s team, who won the Midland title and the all-expenses paid trip to London including two nights in a hotel and special reversible NBA replica tops of the two teams playing in the evening.
The also children got to play on the actual court at the O2 in the morning and enjoyed shooting practice, circle chases and dribble knockout before being introduced to two NBA legends in former Phoenix Suns power forward, Marko Milic, and eight-time NBA All-Star, Dikembe Mutombo.
After playing more basketball in the afternoon the pupils were then guests of honour for the global NBA game in the evening.
